TBH Macbeth, it doesnt make me cry but it really gets to me since its such an emotional piece of work since he shows such promise but is led astray by the witches and their suggestions of greater things.
Frustrating I think is the phrase.
The Dwarfs by Harold Pinter is very moving too, the monologues are so moving and powerful. I wish I could see some Pinter performed along with some Beckett. That would be bliss hehe.

You see, I dont think that ones sad. Sure their deaths are but the way it happens is just frustrating, and that frustration just overrides any sadness for me. Its sad that the two families couldnt jsut accept the relationship, but then again if someone killed your best mate would you want your son to date their daughter?
Of course not.

I dont think many of you will have heard of the play ROAD by Jim Cartwright. Im studying it for my Alevel Theatre Studies course its so amazing, when you watch every scene you dont know whether to laugh or cry its about a poverty stricken street in sheffield and all the people that live there theres wife beaters, slappers who want to become more people who used to be great who have become nothing drugs, alcohol, shags, fags, drunken soilders and shy school girls
In it i have to play a slapper and a gobby teenager (no comments ashy kk?) but i really identify with my character because she's got shit all to live for, doesnt get on with her mum, puts on a confident front to hide all her insecurities, my speech at the end is so powerful, every time i perform it to the class i can feel the tears welling up inside of me i really think on the night when we're examined im gna actually cry, i can feel it ive never felt so into my character in a play that ive performed ever in my life and ive been in plays since i was like 5
To the person who mentioned KneeHigh Theatre company OMG HOW AMAZING ARE THEY?!?!?! i went to go see Nights At The Circus at West Yorkshire Playhouse, im analysing it for my exam it was so amazing, they break every boundary of theatre and yet get the response of one of the best west end theatre productions!

Lol my school put on a production of Roads a few weeks back so the theatre group could be moderated for their exams. Was good! You are right its both sad and funny, but it was soooo long ago (lol about 3 weeks) and I've been cramming so much info into my head all I remember is a load of people swearing at each other wearing very little My fave sad play of all time is probably The Dwarfs [sic] by Harold Pinter, its NOT actually a sad play but its SO emotive its untrue. Excellent use of monologue and humour in the right places as well as some sadness creates just perfectly melancholic air about it all. It rocks!
