The power of the PS3 is still very much an unknown quantity.Sure, we’ve seen the machine (or what actually existed of the machine) generate a billion ducks, and the Killzone demo is undoubtedly incredible , but what do we actually know about the machine? Just how does it stack up against the Xbox 360? The one thing that we are sure of, according to Hideo Kojima, is that the real time Metal Gear Solid 4 demo is worlds ahead of what we have seen so far on the 360 Proof some might say that the PS3 is significantly more powerful than the 360. Not so says Hideo. When asked if the 360 could handle MGS4, he replied: “Yes, that's technically possible.” When asked why he chose the PS3 over the 360 for MGS4 he said: “Kojima Productions has this philosophy that we want to be the first in everything regarding new technology. So after we finished MGS3, the option was to work on the PS3 to try all the new things for Metal Gear Solid 4. The only reason for this is I'm the kind of person who wants to be the first person on the moon, and don't want to be asking 'what the moon was like?' from other people.” So, does this mean that the Xbox 360 is much more powerful than we have seen evidence of so far, or that the PS3 is less powerful than Sony would have us believe? We’ll just have to wait and see Source Cex.com

Well to compare the xbox360 and the ps3 you need specs!
The xbox 360 specs are... CPU will use three 3.0GHz PowerPC cores, each with 32KB L1 cache, 32KB instruction cache, and the three share 1MB of L2 cache. Later alpha decks only featured two cores.
The graphics will be handled by a "next-gen" 500MHz ATI post-X800 adapter
There will be 256MB RAM—no word on what type; memory cards will range from 64MB to 1GB
There will be no "next-gen" (i.e. Blu-ray or HD-DVD) drive, but instead a dual-layer DVD
There will be an optional hard drive (as we heard before)—no word on final size
There will be a USB 2.0 camera for 1.2-megapixel shots and VGA-quality video
5.1-channel audio is handled in software—X3DAudio to be exact (no word on in/outs)
The ps3 specs are...- Cell Processor - PowerPC-base Core @ 3.2GHz - 1 VMX vector unit per core - 512KB L2 cache - 7 x SPE @ 3.2GHz - 7 x 128b 128 SIMD GPRs - 7 x 256KB SRAM for SPE - 1 of 8 SPEs reserved for redundancy - total floating point performance: 218 GFLOPS
This tells us bolloks, any platform could put any game on, but the gfx and fps will be severly killed. For example, putting a next gen game (new metal gear) onto say the gamecube, would play fine....but the gfx would be nothing compared to xbox 360 or ps3.......the new consoles xbox360, ps3 and revolution can play anything because they rock so much,.
