I don't no if anyones heard this, its a big thing in Northampton at the moment, and its now in the national newspaper.
The parents of two boys who died in a blaze encouraged one of them to play with matches. The mum invited the child to show relatives and friends he could light a match.
Nathan (2 years) and Jeremy (18 months) died after being trapped in their bedroom after the the older boy started a fire with the matches.
The two boys were locked in their bedroom whilst there parents could enjoy a romantic evening. The door handle was reversed so they would have to push it upwards and there was a t shirt tied between the doors to stop them opening.
They only tried to save there kids when neighbours broke into the house to get the kids out. Unfortunately the kids died weeks later.
The mother has been jailed for 2 years and the father 12 months for child cruelty.

I find the neglect here unbelieveable. Lock your kid in a room with matches: whats gonna happen? I wonder. They should have got a lot longer.

Death penalty is perfectly justified here I think. They taught the child how to kill itself and its sibling, so not only is it child cruelty, but its also manslaughter on two counts! Admittedly the trauma of losing their 2 kids and the crushing guilt are probably the reason why hte judge let them off so lightly, but GODDAM they killed their kids! Then again, once all the people in the prisons htey are staying in find out Im sure theyl get their share of rapings, shivvings and of course general unpleasantness. Seems the one crime nobody can accept is a crime against a child Rightly fucking so I think!

Looks like the sentences are going to be shorter, it says: Lawyers have indicated they intend to appeal against the prison sentence. doctors and psychiatrists were asked to assess both parents to determine whether there low mental capabilities prevented them from understanding the legal process.
i don't see how that can change anything, Like analmunchkin said they killed there kids. They allowed them to play with matches after neighbours and the grandmother told them not to let them.

Which has what to do with being responsible for your childrens deaths? Didnt they relize it was illegal or something? Its pretty much a given, that one.
