I'm curious as to how much publicity the Bolivarian revolution is getting and whether it is with or without bias.
If you haven't even heard of it, post because that means it is not getting the publicity is deserves.
Hugo Chavez (former teacher) is teaching the world a lesson in how to resist American imperialism.
It's a story the right-leaning press want to steer clear from as it undermines their authority (particuarly those loyal to Washington)

I've heard vague mention of it but thats mostly because another member of another forum I visit is Venezuelan.
I dont know the cause of it other than Latin America's disquaint with the you.S. but Im sure there must be more to it than that.

Never heard about it at all, though I'm guessing its somebody revolting against some supposedly "fascist" state of affairs. Revolutions tend to annoy me because mostly they end in economic collapse and are based upon totally left-wing and useless policies that can't be implemented. For instance communism. Half a century down the line only China, Cuba, Laos, North Korea, and Vietnam left. Before that it was half the world... goes to show it didn't work.
Reading up on it it seems that it's gonna be another failed attempt at socialism. Trying to make all of Latin America into one nation will fail, not least because it lacks the economy. Bolivianarism is a silly idea I must say.

It's naive to believe that socialist countries will fail. Socialism is a fairly new concept and it has to be remembered that the first examples of bourgeousie states, post civil-war England and Napoleonic France, we in fact dicatotorships themselves. Both of them failed miserably. Any new ideas take centuries to become effective and therefore only 150 years since the release of the communist manifesto, it's early days still.

Im not sure if this applies *your all so smart i cud cry* but we can't take an idea and trash it without giving it a chance, russia tried communism, it failed, we all saw, now they need some democracy and a little bit of love and who knows what the dying russians could become.

Lol well Cuba's economy is far from booming, Russia's main economic asset for the tax year '03/'04 was human hair retail... communism killed the economy. Vietnam is really only still commie to annoy america and remind them that they lost the war. And I dont blame them! Id do that to laugh at Americans hehe. Still not much of an economic power, oh well. Lets think though, if all the nations of South America were to unite it just wouldnt work; theyd end up running from a central source of power that would eventually become overwhelmed with legal matters that the time between query and response would be months and then their political and economic systems would fail. Its how the Russian Empire fell, alll the Communist states Russia took over after the war were run from Moscow and they couldnt keep on top of things because they refused to appoint local leaders for each state since it would make some people more powerful adn then they just got destroyed fhorrifically by their own system. SO it isnt going to work
