Lol Im sure everyone here is literate, how else could htey read the posts?
Im mainly reading the "Literature" texts now cos Im gonna be studying them next year, Stephen King nad Iain Banks are my guilty pleasure books hehe, cos htey aren't "Literature" they are books. Strange eh?
Best example: "The Wasp Factory" by Iain Banks is considered a great piece of contemporary literature, "Consider Phlebas" by Iain Banks (under the unimaginative pseudonym Iain M. Banks) is not. Probably because it is Sci-Fi, I would guess.

Haha good one. His plays are well thought out and the plots are very clever, but GOD DAMN does he know how to waffle. I only really enjoy his poetry, short and sweet mostly, unlike his plays. Oh well lol, Macbeth is one of his better plays. My favourite anyways, well that and the Tempest.
Im reading the booklet from the new Devin Townsend album if that counts, oh and I bought a "very intellectual" book yesterday too. I've wanted it for ages; the "13 and 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear" by Walter Moers. Its meant to be nuts, and I wanna read it hehe, so I bought it (shock horror) and will start it soon. It isnt a children's book though, but it isnt exactly classical literature though. Should be good though!

Update: The book is fucking excellent, and bonkers. A blue bear magically spawns into existence in a nutshell and floats about the sea, almost gets sucked into a whirlpool and is saved by miniature pirates smaller than 6 inches tall who are born with hooks for hands, pegs for legs, eye patches and hats and moustaches. Then when he grows too big and nearly sinks the ship he is abandoned on an island with hobgoblins who make it cry for evening entertainment. THe bear becomes a celebrity by crying and then runs away to the sea and spends a while being taught to talk by talking waves. Then a giant whale comes along and he pulls all the harpoons out of its back and it takes it to gourmet island. And thats where Im up to, All that in the first 80 pages haha
Its nuts.

That book sounds great!! I should try find it somewhere and give it a read. I haven't really been reading much lately. But my sister bought me a book called "how to walk in high heels" by Camilla Morton and it just gives you loads of stupid girly advice by this woman and some fashion designers and stuff like that. It's a nice little book. I feel stupid now. I feel like I should be reading some literature to balance out the "stupidness" of that book! haha! I still haven't finished "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs yet! I started it ages ago!
